From the South (New York City Metro Area)
Get on the NYS Thruway I-87 and head north. Take exit 24 Albany,
pay the toll and get on I-87 the Northway (yep, same interstate number,
different name). Drive to exit 23 Warrensburg, take a left at the end
of the ramp and a right onto Route 9. Drive through Warrensburg and
north of town take a left onto Route 28. Follow Route 28 passing
through Wevertown and North Creek on your way to North River, where most of
the races start. Keep in mind the Downriver Race starts in North
Creek.
From the North (Plattsburgh, Quebec)
Find the NYS Northway I-87 and take it south to exit 25 Chestertown.
Turn right at the end of the ramp, pass by Chestertown and Loon Lake, cross
the Hudson at Riparius and onward to the traffic light in Wevertown.
Turn right onto Route 28 and head to North Creek or North River, depending
on the event you're looking for.
From the West (Speculator, Syracuse)
IF YOU KNOW THE ROADS: take I-90 to the exit for Route 365. Take
Route 365 east to the junction with Route 8 and take a left. Stay on
Route 8, don't take a wrong turn on route 30 or miss where Route 8 turns
left off from Route 30! At the traffic light in Wevertown, turn left
and head to North Creek or North River, whichever one your event is at.
From the East (Ticonderoga, Central-Vermont)
Depends! Either find NY Route 149 and head to Lake George, then
take a right onto Route 9 heading north to the Route 28 junction a couple
miles north of Warrensburg. Turn onto Route 28 and head 15 miles or so
to North Creek or North River.
OR, head to Ticonderoga and take NY
Route 74 west to the Northway, take that south to exit 25 and take a right
at the end of the ramp. You're on Route 8, stay on it until you reach
Wevertown, then take a right onto Route 28 and head to North Creek or North
River!
